It’s been raining for what seems like three days.
I’m not complaining. I rather like it. I like the way it sounds, I like the way this slow soaking rain creates a sort of white noise background to the day. I like how everything greens underneath it; as I watch from our windows I can almost see the yard coming to life (I’ll have to mow the grass and trim the hedges once it’s all done).
Funny thing about weather is that we don’t control it. We can change whole habitats–drain swamps, clear forests, pave over beaches–but we can’t tell the weather what to do.
Maybe that’s part of why I love it. I know that’s why our people have seen it as a sign of God’s blessing. He gives rain to the earth that needs it. What a good God.
