a “braveheart” call to action

so I’ve been thinking about this kind of famous verse from one of the old prophets. There’s a lot going into the text, and to really get the full meaning there is a lot of cultural info you would need. But as I sat and thought about how to explain some of it today, I remembered this short conversation I recorded a while ago with a friend. He gives a pretty heartfelt explanation of how the passage hits him.

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
